WILLIAM MACEY and Grace Moore

Full details of Williams parents unknown,  we know his father was also William but no details of his mother.
He was A Stone Cutter, probably in the Chilmark Quarries.
He was baptized on 11 Nov 1655? at Chilmark. He married GRACE (OR JANE)
MOORE, daughter of  WILLIAM MOORE, on 11 Feb 1677 at Chilmark;
Marriage details from Bishops Transcripts. He left a will on 9 Nov 1728;


WILL: In the name of God amen I William Macy the elder of Chilmark in the County of Wilts stone cutter being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to God do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner following; First I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping thro the merits and satisfaction of Jesus Christ my redeemer to receive full pardon and forgivenesss of all my sins and my body I commit to the earth to be decently interred in Xpian (christian) buriel at the discretion of my executor herin after named and as for my temporal goods chattels and money I give and dispose therof in manner following- Imp. I give to my son William the sum of sixty pounds also my furnace two barrels one silt (?) and a cup board. I give unto my daughter Grace two barrels a brass pot I likewise give unto her the interest of forty pounds at five pounds cont. ann (?) during her natural life and after her decease I give the said forty pounds unto her child or children if she leaves any but in case she leaves no child then after her decease I give the said forty pounds to my two sons Joseph and William equally between them. I give unto my grandson William the son of my  son Richard the sum of fifty pounds likewise the bed (?) whereon he did   used to  lodge and the furniture thereunto belonging as also a Bellmosall (?) pot.

 





Their Children

GRACE. Her married name was HEARST (OR MEARSH).  She was born at Chilmark.
In fathers Will she was given two barrels, a Brass Pot, and the interest from £40 @ 5% p.a. for her natural life, then to her child or children. If no children then the £40 to go equally to his two sons Joseph and William.

RICHARD.   was christened on 29 Mar 1683.

WILLIAM . He was christened on 29 Mar 1684. He married
SUSAN PRYOR on 27 May 1719. This is our direct relative 

WILLIAM  was baptized on 16 Mar 1684/85.

JOSEPH. He was baptized on 26 Jan 1685/86. He married MARY MOORE  on 15 Jul 1715 at Chilmark. If his sister had no children at her death Joseph was to share £40 left by her father with his brother William. Joseph was also to inherit the remaining goods and chattells and was made full and sole executor to the will in 1728.

GEORGE.    He was baptized on 2 Dec
1686 at Chilmark. He married AUDRY  FURNELL  on 27 Jul 1696 at Chilmark..

 RACHAEL.   She was  baptized on 2 Jul 1688 at Chilmark.

ELIZABETH.   She was baptized on 22 Jun 1689 at Chilmark.

JACOB.  He was baptized on 2 Feb 1690/91.

DOROTHY.  MACY   SPELLED the alternative
MACEY IN I.G.I. She was baptized on 27 Jun 1691 at Chilmark. She married BEN DOWLIN on 23 Apr 1718 at Chilmark.

DOROTHY : Possible serious error here! She The Second daughter named Dorothy to William and Jane, first one deceased ?? She was christened on 14 Apr 1693 at Chilmark.
